HISTORY
Origins
The club was founded on 20th July 1977 with the intention of entering the Norfolk Chess Leagues. Shortly afterwards it established as its venue the Duke of Norfolk pub in North Norwich, and - using the first letters of the pub's name as its acronym - the team became the Norwich Dons!
Over the years it became a thriving club running several teams in the league competitions and Williamson Cup, as well as a wide variety of internal competitions. It remains one of the leading clubs in Norfolk, and will soon be celebrating its 50th anniversary.
